BAWIFT - Women in Film & Television
Celebrating Five Years in the Bay Area!
BAWIFT has three core values -
· Furthering women's creative achievement
in film, video and related media arts.
· Maintaining a supportive and collaborative community
of women in the Bay Area.
· A continuing dedication to the highest standards
of professionalism and integrity.
BAWIFT began as Cinema Chicks in February 2001 and is now a community of over 850 women mediamakers from all over Northern California. In May 2003 we became Bay Area Women in Film and Television (BAWIFT), a chapter of the Women in Film and Television International network. In May 2008 we turned 5 - Welcome to BAWIFT!

BAWIFT's General Meeting Event: Wednesday, July 9th, 2008 Presents…
POST-PRODUCTION AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES
NOTE: Unlike our special events, this month's meeting is for women only.
Is it HD, HDV or SD? What aspect ratio should I use as we march towards the digital TV (DTV) transition? What's the workflow for uncompressed 4k Redcode raw? Transcode in Pro Res? Digital Intermediate? Should I res up or res down? Do I use cards, hard drives, tape or DVD? What are the basic tech requirements we need to stay in the game? Whether your project is for theatrical release, DVD, web or all-digital, you’ll learn what capture, editing, compression and/or graphic technology advancements are reshaping our industry in 2008 and beyond. Panelists from Bay Area post-production houses will present basic information as well as big picture, so that you can make the best technological choices. You’ll learn to ask critical questions in advance that will impact your workflow overview - from planning and production to post and distribution!
