BAWIFT PRESENTS “REEL SUCCESS STORIES” FEATURING LOCAL FILMMAKER EMIKO OMORI ON THE MAKING AND DISTRIBUTION OF “PASSION AND POWER: THE TECHNOLOGY OF ORGASM”


SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Bay Area Women in Film and Television (BAWIFT) present a special “REEL SUCCESS STORY” featuring filmmaker Emiko Omori this September 19th at the San Francisco School of Digital Filmmaking.  Veteran filmmaker Emiko Omori has been on the frontline of the Bay Area documentary filmmaking since the late 1960’s. Her outstanding work as a producer and cinematographer has won Sundance and Emmy awards. Her latest film, “Passion & Power, The Technology of Orgasm,” (www.technologyoforgasm.com) already being self-distributed through Amazon, will screen at the 30th Mill Valley Film Festival this October (www.mvff.com).  BAWIFT is serving as Co-Presenting Community Sponsor of “Passion & Power” at this year’s Festival.

This Special Event/Monthly Membership Meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 19, 7:00 pm at San Francisco School of Digital Filmmaking, 2565 Third St., Suite #337, between 22nd & 23rd Streets.  The meeting will begin with networking and a light reception followed by Emiko’s presentation/discussion and Selected clips from “Passion & Power: The Technology of Orgasm” plus Q&A with the filmmaker.

Although many BAWIFT special events include both men and women, our general monthly meetings, such as this one, are for women only.  This event is Free for current BAWIFT members, $5 for non-BAWIFT members. $3 for non-BAWIFT members with student ID.

Directions to the San Francisco School of Digital Filmmaking, 2565 Third St., Suite #337, between 22nd & 23rd, SF:  Note: At the front door, look up SF School of Digital Filmmaking in the building directory. You will see the code number *033# Dial that number and you will be buzzed in. Come to the third floor by the stairs or the elevator, which is beyond the stairwell and through the first door.

By Public Transit – BART:
Exit at the 16th Street/Mission Station. Take the #22 bus from the SW corner to the last stop on the line, which is Third St. at 20th St. Walk 1.5 blocks south.
Public Transit - SF MUNI:
To use Muni from downtown SF or from the East Bay, take the T-THIRD
MUNI line (inbound to SF) on the Embarcadero. This is on the street
level. Pick it up anywhere along the Embarcadero and it goes down
Third Street and stops just opposite the SFSDF building, near 22nd St.

BAWIFT began as Cinema Chicks in February 2001 and is now a community of over 600 women mediamakers from all over Northern California.
